M.O.S.S. wins geosciences innovation award from "SDI Saxony" for envVision
M.O.S.S., a leading German provider of spatial-based information and technology solutions, has been awarded top honours for innovation in geosciences at the 7th GIS-Forum of the GDI Sachsen, the Spatial Data Infrastructure Association of the State of Saxony, Germany.
The award ceremony was held on February 24, 2010 in the city hall of Dresden. On behalf of M.O.S.S., Jens Opitz and Dr. Heino Rudolf accepted the award from the Minister of the Interior of the State of Saxony, Mr. Markus Ulbig.
The independent selection committee, consisting of scientists and entrepreneurs, selected M.O.S.S. for its environmental management application envVision. envVision provides a single integrated GIS-based solution for the management of disparate environmental data, thereby streamlining the workflow for interdisciplinary environmental analysis and planning.
In particular, envVision’s concept for OGC- and INSPIRE-compliant data exchange services, the built-in versioning workflow procedures and the use of GeoWeb standards convinced the jury.
Using envVision, the State of Saxony is currently building the fully web-based “Water Information System”. Many other state and local authorities in Germany are using envVision for a variety of environmental applications, e.g. noise mapping or the spatial management of air quality control data.
